Ebook About When dreams and expectations clash in a flurry of sparks, an actress and an aristocrat find themselves searching for common ground.Lady Victoria Penchant has had enough scandal for one lifetime, and she’s sworn off drama for good. But when she makes an unexpected return to her family’s castle during high tourist season, drama is exactly what she finds—in the form of a Hollywood film crew and their sharp-tongued, stunning star, Sophia LeBlanc. Sparks of every kind fly from their first encounter, and the drama doubles as Vic’s every decision draws her closer to Sophia and further from the expectations of the prestigious position she has been raised to protect.Sophia has worked and scraped and fought her way up from nothing to the brink of stardom. She’s spent her career taking direction from rich, pretty, privileged men, and she has no intention of letting some rich, pretty, privileged aristocrat stand in the way now that her wildest dreams are within reach. She vows to stay in control of every situation during filming, but the Lady of the Manor proves to be an unexpectedly stubborn and alluring challenge to the goals she’s fought so hard to achieve. As the summer heats up, Vic and Sophia learn they have far more in common than their intense sexual attraction, but will that be enough to overcome the pressures of proud histories and find their way toward a new vision of forever?Book Modern English Review :
I think I have my first "book hangover" in quite a while after reading this one. Need to savor this before I jump into another book. Two very strong and forceful women who know what they want in life and expect no one and nothing to get in their way. I really loved the awesome first encounter between Lady Victoria and Sophia LeBlanc. Kind of instant animosity with a strong touch of attraction. It set the stage for a relationship that will warm the heart. This was so very well written that I never had to guess who was speaking. Vic was so elegant and eloquent, the perfect portrayal of British sophistication. Sophia was pure American. Loved their differences but was moved by the fact that both were such honorable women. Very, very happy with this continuation of Full English. Thank you so much, Rachel, for giving us readers a most welcome book. You did a magnificent job with this one. I will say that Rachel Spangler is very hit or miss for me, and this book was a miss, which is a disappointment because Full English is probably one of my favorite books in this genre and I have read it several times. I really didn't even want to finish this book on the other hand....In this follow-up to Full English we follow the storyline of Lady Victoria and Sophia. Lady Victoria is the daughter of a duke and Sophia is an American actress who is starring in a movie that is filming at her residence. After possibly the most bizarre courting scenario I have ever read, the remainder of the book has them bobbing and weaving through a myriad of obstacles in their path. My main complaints about this book are the development, or lack thereof, of the characters and some plot choices that feel heavily manufactured. I do believe Rachel did a great job of developing Vic, while she is a little too perfect all the time, she has a backstory and motivations that we can understand. Sophia, from a developmental standpoint, on the other hand, is lackluster. Sophia comes from a poor upbringing (which is only mentioned in passing and never expounded upon) and *insert American pulling up by bootstraps imagery* was able to find success in the entertainment business. We are also informed she allegedly had to act in what I assume was softcore porn to be successful, apparently. She also is presented as an aspiring director with a true vision, but I do believe there is a lot more to directing a film than camera angles, which is the only thing Sophia seems to ever discuss, to ad nauseam. Sophia lacks depth as a character and is basically just a walking "started from the bottom now I'm here" caricature with a chip on her shoulder. Also, at times, her motives rarely make sense, for example she decides, arbitrarily, that she is going to "break" Vic. Why? I have no idea. What does that even mean? I also have no clue other than it makes her seem like a real pain. I did not find her compelling as a character and basically most of the book I was just thinking Vic could do so much better. The plot was also not that great, they clearly are not a great match, and the obstacles presented actually do make sense why they shouldn't be together. And the ending... not to be blunt, but it was pretty bad. I was wondering how Rachel was going to wrap it up and I guess she didn't know either and just went with the only thing she could come up with. It felt like she went in hoping the story would write itself, but then it didn't and so she had to pull a rabbit out of a hat and this is what we were left with. This is a fine book to pass the time, but I will return to Full English for more fully fleshed-out characters I actually want to end up together.
